Default Up travel question with a 99XJ and a RE superflex kit

1999 jeep XJ
rubicon express 3.5" superflex
Rubicon express monotube shocks (sold from quadratech with the lift)
15x8 wheel with 3.75 backspace
32x11.5 tire

On the front-
-got this installed as directions said, but looking at it sit on the tires, I can only see about 2.25" of uptravel before the bump stops bottom out. Shocks look to bottom out at 3" of up travel. Is that normal? I had to run the supplied bump stop pucks and a set of daystar bump extensions to keep from having the shock bottom out first. The shocks are 17" compressed, 27" extended.

How much distance do you have from the bump stop to the contact pad on the diff housing?

I know my 3.5 re lift has a lot more down travel then up travel. Does your axle actually contact the bump stop?

as long as it keeps the tires hitting the fenders, especially when turned full lock then its good.

That sounds about right to me. I have 2 inch bump stops up top and about a 1/2" stop at the bottom. With 31s and flat flares, I have about 1/2" gap between the tire and flare at full bump.

I'm looking at the distance between the bump stop and where it contacts the axle vs the fender / tire gap and thinking I should have more uptravel. My shocks will bottom out @ 3", so I set my bump stops at 2.5". Seems like such a waste having so much down travel, but damn near be on bump stops if I hit a speed bump or a rut out on the trail. The shocks seem long for the application. 17" compressed, sound right?

The bottom 2 pics are sitting on the tires, level.

Not sure why they got flipped around when I uploaded them.

I believe your shocks are for the 5.5" kit. My Bilsteins are about the same length and I ordered them based off of the 5.5" lift shocks even though I am running the 3.5" springs. I prefer more down travel then up. But it still seems like I have more up travel then you. If I can, I will take a measurement at lunch for comparison.

They look like the wrong shocks to me. The shock body is too long. You wanna have less distance between bumpstops then you do shock travel. You will end up blowing your shocks.

just looked at mine.. i have the 3.5" RE super ride with mono tube shocks.. shocks seem to be at about the same place as yours... you don't want too much up travel or you will put the tires into the fenders.. sound slike you will hit the bump stops before bottoming the shock so you'll be ok there.

Shocks should be close to 15" collapsed, 25" extended for 3.5" lift.

Extended bumpstops look to made by Daystar. Has a much firmer durometer than the stock jounce bumpers. Height can be cut to fit. https://www.4wd.com/p/daystar-extend...ew%20Structure

Alright, just measured mine. Here are the details.

- RE 3.5" coils (very old ones)
- Bilstein 5100 shocks 17" compressed
- 3.75" shock shaft showing at ride height
- No aftermarket bumper. No skid plate. No extra weight on the front.
