Default Unimog axle info.

Does anyone have any experience throwing mog axles under a cherokee? I wanted to go with a conventional 1 ton swap but have access to a cheap set of 404 axles.

If you can weld and fab anything can be done.

I don't think I've ever seen a post of somebody doing it on this forum. I remember seeing hummer portals under a Cherokee on pirate though.

I think it would be neat as hell. And I can get these axles already with a selectable locker and disc brakes for under 2k, with a hydraulic ram. There both ready to run and I don't need to regear. Its cheaper than gearing, lockers, etc on two d60's.

Im really leaning towards this right now haha.

just be sure you look into the final gearing - I can't recall what it was, but there are practically no options for re gearing them. I sure miss my 404, even though it was terribly slow and awful in mud.

These are the 404 axles. And Ive been told not to hope for highway speeds haha. Itd be a pure trail rig anyway. If I grab them I will throw up some pics.

Locked, hydro, disc brakes, uber clearance, cheaper than 60s.

I smell an awesome project brewing.

It's something like 8:1 or other abouts for gear ratio.

So yeah hi way would be no go unless 40s or even bigger I imagine

I remember seeing an XJ w/ portals on Pirate, I think in the "LCOG cherokee" thread (it definitely WASN'T low cog lol) but I can't find it again.

You better make a build thread!

Anything worth building is worth overbuilding.
