Ummm o2 sensor....rounded off just about

Stupid spark plug tool sucks man, it was flexing when i was trying to get off my just about seized o2 sensor. I say its a little under halfway threaded out and the bolt is almost rounded you think that i can still get it out with a normal 7/8th socket or should i take it somewhere?

FYI i will not be reusing them current one still suck i got new NTK's.

its an old busted one. i would spray the **** out of with pb blaster for a day or two, then when you plan on removing it let the motor run for a good 5 minutes or so, let it get nice and warm WEAR GLOVES!!!! take some MASSIVE vise grips crimp it down as much as you possible can and it should come off pretty easy. you might be able to use a socket but i wouldnt even screw with it. id use the biggest pair of grips on it i can get, its old and busted who cares how bad you damage the sensor good luck with it

Giant pipe wrench

bigboy813 12-15-2011 11:18 PM

^^ was looking at all those items in my garage im gonna try cutting the wire and using a 7/8 socket hmmm.

So what should I do?

(Option 1) PB the crap out of it and use w/e I have weither that be medium vise grips, or i do have large piupe wrench.... but its the oil pan side sensor.
(Option 2) Torch and torque wrench with deep socket

Donnie_K 12-15-2011 11:20 PM

You should heat up the fitting it screws into and back it out with a pipe wrench if it's already rounded off.

(Option 3) PB the crap out of it, then torch it and big breaker bar and deep socket. if you do indeed mean a torque wrench DO NOT EVER USE IT TO BREAK A BOLT LOOSE. youll tear the calibration up in it, atleast thats what ive always read and been told, they are made to tighten bolts not loosen them lol but take the next size down either metric or standard beat it on with a hammer, torch the base of the sensor to red and start working it.

^^ buts it the up one front close to theoil pan, dont know if a pip wrench will fit

^^ haha option 3

ehh its a crappy autozone one that doesn't click.

i would be careful torching that then if its that close, prolly a really EXTRA cautious type thing but the pan isnt very thick and that much heat around there it would suck for you to accidently burn a hole in it, i would just pb blast it, run it for a little bit til its warm engine temp wise and wrench on the mofo use some muscles and itll come off.

PB blaster sucks. Use a torch and GM Heat Valve Lubricant . Can be purchased at any GM dealer and is well worth the money cause it will last alot longer than BP, which usually ends up on the ground

Once your try it, you will say the same thing about PB

Pipe wrench. Worked for me. If your wrench has rounded teeth, go grab a new one and it will get the sucker out. I fought with mine for a while too.

bigboy813 12-20-2011 10:29 PM
