u-joints
Hey XJ's, we need some help. My friend has been busting u-joints left and right. We've already replaced them 3 times in almost every situation. He has a 93 cherokee with a RC 4.5 lift on it with stock D35 and 3.83 gears with 33 BF. If you guys have knowledge to share we take it.

I'm assuming you're talking about the front axle ujoints. I'd upgrade to either chromos with the larger ujoint or see if you can find a set of stock shafts off a newer cherokee with the larger ujoint.
Or tell him to take it easy on the skinny.
Or if they are popping caps and not technically "breaking" tell him to get the caps spot welded on or again, take it easy on the skinny.

Stock stuff breaks when wheeled on oversize tires.
A good cheap upgrade is to use the larger 5-760x shafts and u joints from a newer or abs equipped xj and grind out the shafts to use full circle clips.
ALWAYS USE SPICER U JOINTS. Anything else from the parts store is crap.

He doesn't have any lockers our posi unit and the u joint that is breaking is the one closer to the rear diff. Could we use a bigger drive shaft and u joint without changing the rear yoke?

Also go to a yoke that uses u bolts instead of those crappy straps. Most likely those straps aren't holding the caps in tight and they are working loose until he throws a cap and tears up the u joint.
