Two Completely Different Questions

Is it safe to hook up tow hooks to the bumpers? If not, what other places would be a good idea? I know it's a unibody, so I'm not too sure where the strongest points are on the so called "frame."

Also, I came across a nifty kit on ebay that raises the back and of the hood about an inch to aid with cooling. It's similar to cowl induction scoop, but the whole hood is raised instead. All that comes in the kit is metal blocks about 1 inch thick and four bolts and the price is $22. The blocks look to be made out of aluminum. A buddy and I are thinkin of doin the same thing, but with our own blocks for the spacing. Has anyone tried this and run into clearence problems? Do you all think it would actually work well?

Any feedback would be very helpful, thanks!

as for the hooks just make sure you hook right on to the frame rail and you should be good for some light to medium tugging but don't pull to hard.

as for the hood mod. i've seen that done theirs a guy on here that has it me personally i don't like how it looks but it would be a sufficient way to let some extra hot engine air out.

:bangin: Don't do this. Get a legit set of tow hook mounts or a properly mounted bumper with recovery points.

I have a hitch for the rear, I just need to put it on. As for the front, I have nothing. And for the hood, I thought it looked alright. It was different though. I guess I can add another project to the list: find tow hook mounts

i did the spacers on the hood with some 1" square tubing. just drilled up the holes to match and new bolts from the hardware store for a couple dollars. works great. i dont see any need to pay for than 6-8 bucks for the setup.

Yes there are both factory and aftermarket options for tow hook brackets.. Definitely not safe to go straight to the bumper though. It shouldn't be too tough to find a Jeep with tow hooks and brackets at a JY. Iv'e seen a few. Good luck!

C4x4 also makes an OEM like set that used forever before I got my bumper. I'd be willing to sell mine for cheap if I can find them in the garage.

I'm gonna hit up a junkyard most likely, just to see what they look like. I'm in no need to get them soon. I need the cash first.

my thoughts on this are... by the time it takes messing with em (rust) just buy new. what are you gonna save 30 bucks? then you gotta clean em up to paint em... whats ur labor really worth? not saying dont do it just on something small like that buy new, its not like its a d44...

I'm gonna price out new ones too. haha. I wanna snoop around for other stuff too while I'm there.
