Tuner Style Lug Nuts
I just put a set of 16" Rubicon wheels and tires on my XJ and decided to replace all the lug nuts with new tuner style, just to make them harder to steal. What I noticed is that the seat is smaller and fits in deeper into the hole. Is that safe? Has anyone used these before?

I've used those on many customer rigs with no issues, some are F-350's. Oddly enough I can get them on and off easily with a normal 6 pt. socket without hurting the lug or socket.

I got a set on mine and x2 on being able to take them off with a regular socket. they arent security lugs. its just for looks imo.

i wouldn't use them.
if you ever need help to remove a wheel because you lost your special "key" socket (which are usually made from thin tin), no one can help you.
i had a call once to a car with these, he lost some of his lug nuts and the rest were loose and he had no socket and neither did i.
i had to tow him.
another call i had for a simple tire change, his thin socket split.
i had to tow him.

I'm not worried about losing the socket. I was just wondering if anyone has used them with Rubicon wheels, just because they sat deeper into the hole because of their smaller diameter.

the compatibility is pretty much dependent on what seat the lugs have and what seat your wheels have.
if the wheels have a conical seat then they're fine.
if the wheels have a rounded "ball seat" (most OEM wheels do) it's a no-go.
lots of people put these on stock honda wheels which have a ball seat and it's extremely dangerous. i would double check or you could end up looking like this:
