Default TrXus M/T's who's tried em?

Some people say they're crappy, but most of the fellas on Pirate say they're great tires.

Will be going on a DD weekend warrior wheeler..I have snow 7 months out of the year here and hear they do great in snow. Will be going with 33's and I hear the soft compound wears out fast but if they are superior in snow over other M/T's I'm willing to deal with that.

Only other siped M/T I have heard good things about on snowy roads is the Cooper STT. Anyone here able to vouch for the TrXus?

Never had them in snow. They're heavy and don't always balance perfectly, but offroad they're great. My friend has them in 35's on his TJ and he does work with them on the rocks. I like them when I had them in 33's, just a heavy tire.

how did they wear for you on the road?

due to my location my xj will be only a weekend warrior...it will be primarily on road. That said I have survived a heavyyy winter so far with tires that are practically bald slicks (I think knowing HOW to adjust driving is more important than tires in winter) so I think anything with some tread will be an improvement. I do use the highway about once a week though, and some old interco threads I've read say these things aren't round and more egg shaped making for "fun"hwy driving lol

I got them when they were pretty worn down. They're still alive and kicking whenever I see my friends Jeep in town. Couldn't answer that too well for you.

they're a great tire, both off road and in the snow.
i bought a brand new set about 10 years ago for my xj and they are still going strong on one of the tj's.

great tread life, just keep them properly inflated on the roads.

they are very difficult to balance tho.

I've had a set on my DD and they were great in every terrain. Definitely rotate them often. Near the end of life they were getting pretty badly cupped, probably because I didn't rotate them enough.

Loved them, switched to a less aggressive duratrac. I can't wait to buy trxus again. Rarely had to use 4wd and tires were awesome on ice.

i had mine balanced with copper bb's to about 90kph. but i had one tire replaced with a similar tread depth and he managed to balance it on the machine with weights and now i can hit 120kph with no major shakes.

so far i'm sure i've gotten 15k kms, possibly more, and they're good for another season as a dd at most.

I ran them for a while. Great off road tires, but noisy on the road and at $200 ea for a daily driver tire they wear out fast. I did not replace mine and went with another AT tire..
