Tread Depth on new mud tires

Lookin at some new tires.. I see tread depths range from 15/32 to 19/32.. Does this also equate to more tread depth = more $$$?

depends on the size of the tire......I was looking at cooper tires and their 35's had 19/32 where as their 31's had 15/32

Just got a set of 31x10.50 guard dogs. They have 20/32 I do believe

Guard dogs are 19/32 tread depth. Ive got a set of them in my garage waiting for wheels to go on.
My 235/75R15 Treadwright Crawlers were 16/32 new.
My 39.5x13.5 Irok Radials were 21/32 when new.

Djlarroc, more tread depth doesn't necessarily mean the tire will be more expensive than one with less tread depth. Brand and model, and size of tire determine the cost.

Put em on and tell me how much road noise you have. I want to get those over the wardens because the guard dogs are now a bead to bead, and the other pattern is too common and id like something more aggressive.

ok, i dont know how this became a treadwright thread... but yes, usually truck tires have a deeper tread depth than, say a all season passenger tire.

what i mean is ive seen mud tires of the same size, (in my case looking for 285/75/16) and it seems the tires with more tread depth cost more. for example the km2 have a depth of 19/32, going for about $230 a tire.. while an off brand has a depth of 15/32 for about $160 a tire.. i would think the less tread should account for being cheaper as well. why such a drastic difference in tread depth, if not to offer a lower cost?

Well, the cheaper price on the off brand tire is because its an off brand tire, not really so much because of tread depth.
Just for a comparison, in the size you're looking at, the KM2 and Maxxis Bighorn both have a 19/32 tread depth. And theyre both good, name brand mud terrain tires. But the Maxxis, at the one place I compared prices between the two, is about $50 less per tire.
Its just a difference in brands that makes the difference in price.
