Trans upgrade
So I currently run an ax-15 trans that I need to replace, I'm thinking about getting a " beefier" trans I will be running a 14b rear end and dana 60 front 5.13 gears and locked and between 38-42" tires so I'm trying to find a better trans, I am bracing my frame rails so I gotta redrill holes for the crossmember, main question is would the only mod I would have to make is a bellhousing and relocate the crossmember to run an nv4500? I'm keeping a manual trans I don't want auto

nothing wrong with the ax15. the nv4500 is a big heavy truck transmission and should be paired with a V8. having really deep axle gears is a great way to keep stress off your drivetrain. go for the 5.38's and if you're really needing to swap the transmission I'd go for the NV3550. light, strong, and deeper gearing than the ax15
keep it to a 40" tire and run a doubler. bing bang boom. hell I'd be fine going straight back to an ax15

I already have the 5.13s haha but my biggest issue at the moment is seeing if I can rebuild my old trans or get a new one, and it's really hard to find a used manual trans that isn't in pieces for a fair price it sucks

wish I had more info on the swap portion. but I can tell ya it will be a joy and a pleasure trying to fit this big ***** under an XJ. I'm not sure if anyone even carries and adapter kit. hopefully someone who's done the research will step in. I'm almost positive you'll need a 5.3 swap or something to go with it
