trans cooler on p/s?
I have a dorango p/s gear box I'm replacing my old gear box with and iv read about people adding a trans cooler to it. I'm wondering what the benafits with doing this is. Should I do it and is it worth doing? I'm running 33 inch tires and my gear box is shot and I got the dorango gear box for free so I figure I would do the swap. If anyone could tell me what the benifits of the trans cooler on it thank you

Dont see a reason for it if the dbox is alrdy an upgrade..plus never heard of that and make sure its the right year one for direct swap. Other than that this isnt fab like the other guy said. But. Gl on that

Moved to advanced. Ive ran a power steering cooler for quite some time, its a cheap upgrade and does help keep steering power when it heats up. Tube and fin style coolers are preferable, and it has to be mounted on the return line.

i used the factory trans cooler off a gc for my p/s cooler.
works great dropped the p/s fluid temp by 40* on the trail.
mounted in front of a/c condensor in front of elec fan.
i run the fan all the time i'm on the trails.

iv seen people use gear boxes out of a 99 dorango thats the one i got so im hoping its the right one. also someone makes a new mount? for it just a beefed up mount then thats in stock i was just gonna try and fab one my self instead of pay the 70 dollars for one and waiting a week for it to ship. my steering is already really tough when i try turning after the jeep is warmed up so i was gonna grab a new p/s pump and a tran cooler out of the junk yard tomorrow and do it all up

Yes running it with a small aftermarket tranny cooler will help a lot. I've seen times my PS would give out on hot days wheeling.
Plus don't use ATF in the system. It has a lower boiling point than the hydro fluid.

They are a very common upgrade and important if youdont want your stock alumimum piece cracking and want to extend the life of your frame up there. Not sure what this extra bolt you speak of is.

I think you are talking about the t&t customs 4 bolt brace and spacer? Because on the website it says it's made for the yj box so I don't know how much different the durango box is from that.. From what I've read most people just buy the inner spacer and run 3 bolts
