Default Train horn question

I got a train horn setup from one of my buddies, when I got it it didnt work, he said it worked but had just been sitting. I hooked everything up and the compressor kicked on but when I went to honk it nothing happened so I assumed it was a bad solonoid because it wasnt even clicking. I got a new solonoid today put it on and tried it again and all it does is make an air noise coming out of the horns rather than honking. Could it be a bad horn itself or more likely the compressor isnt pumping what it should? I aired it up for like 5 minutes and the compressor still continued to run idk if it should shut off when its full or what. Any advice is much appreciated.

Sounds like it's working perfectly fine if you ask me. I see no need for a train horn on anything other than a train.

Well reason im putting it on is because my clockspring went bad so i currently have no horn and I got it for free so its cheaper than replacing the clockspring and tearing apart the steering wheel.

Installing a train horn is not a fix for the factory horn. You're only asking for unwanted attention from Officer Friendly and his pretty flashing blue lights.

Learn from my mistakes. Flashy and loud only attracts the attention of cops and thieves.

Air horns need a lot of air at high psi. What size tank and what psi were you using?

The only two vehicles I've ever seen with train horns were big gay trucks with ultra douchebags driving them, honking at college students and people with dogs in their cars.

Basically just douchebags.

having been working for the railroad sense 2005 I will have to say keep the train horns off the street they can actually cause harm to people if they are to close. and they are annoying.

I bought a "Badboy" brand air horn (not as loud as a T-horn) for my motorcycle-It saved my life a few times...

I want to buy two for the XJ. Train horns are expensive.

It sounds to me like your diaphram is out of adjustment.
