trailer Brake controller question
I installed a trailer brake controller on my car, I noticed it has a lead that goes from the controller to a 20amp auto reset fuse then strait to the battery. My question is would this cause a drain on the battery? The little LED on the controller is on 24/7 not until my brakes are depressed then it goes to red then off.
Any help? Thanks |
A LED will not drain your battery by any means. Their power usage is so minimal there will be no noticeable difference.

Correct however it makes me curious if the whole unit is powered on, which would drain the battery. Any one ever install one? Did you hook it to the battery or to the ignition switch?

It's fine, mine is the same way.
But mine also has internal settings, and if it gets disconnected from power, I lose those settings. |
I will keep it hooked up for a week that way.. mine has all mechanical settings to I dont think putting it on an ignition switch would be an issue.. Worst case i could put in a relay to activate it upon ignition turn on and then shut it off when the truck is off.
Im curious to see how much draw it really pulls |
