Your tow points? Rear hitch receiver, front tow hooks, if you dont have thoes u shouldnt wait before u get ur truck stuck an have too pull it out and f somethin up. You can also get bumpers that tie into ur frame so u can tow off them

Splice into one of your tail lights' connections. Not sure if either side makes a difference, mine is off of the driver's side. You'll have to either look up the wiring colors of your year and model to make sure you can match correctly with the diagram DirtRoadXJ posted, or you could also easily look at which wire goes to which bulb.

There are youtube vids. Cherokee trailer harness install, I imagine.. take off hatch trim, take off trim behind spare tire and its prewired. I know. Because....... I watched the video. Easy cheesy. Take it from a wannabe mechanic. Tear into that xj and your ***** will fall. I hope not too far

Oh 89. Wiring splices suck.. easy stuff. If splicing is in order you'll need to splice into one housing. Pay attention to which bulb does what, mark with masking tape if you wanna be smooth and tap in. Easy enough. Don't know when they changed to preinstalled harness, but YouTube it nonetheless.. also, mallamo's name sucks. Haaaaaa

Your splice in harness will, or should be, color coded. Connect the dots. Use the housings lights that you splice into as reference... looking for video now

From what I saw on YouTube you should get a non splice in harness. Get the one that taps connector on drivers side.
