tool box sub box
Alright so I wanted some way to kind of make my subs less noticable and the only conventional box I could think of took up a lot of space and still looked like a sub box so I was thinkin about getting one of those between the rail tool boxes for trucks and sealing off a portion like the bottom half and cut two holes on the front to mount the subs and then I could still use the top part ss a tool box and store ****** blocks straps ect. And I would bed like the whole thing so the black subs would be less noticable against a bed lined tool box I think its a good idea but I wanna hear some feed back so tell me what ya think oh and I would probably leave my amp under my rear seat ss that's how its wired at the moment

i have a similar idea but completely made, not store bought.. But ill let everyone in on it.
I would like to keep my subs as steath like as possible, so i came up with the idea of incorperating a storage box with a sub box. The top will be completely flat, that way you dont lose all the cargo area. The back of the box nearest to back seat with contain the sub(s) facing inward to each other. Magnet to side of vehicle. On top there will be a breather to allow air to escape. with a mesh screen so nothin falls in the hole. At the front of the box(facing inside jeep from back) there will be two draws for storage. that pull out or can be a false floor and raise up. Either setup is your choice. Well thats the quick over view of how it would be in my eyes and how i plan on making my sub/storage box.
Good luck

I have my sub in a stand alone box and it makes the tools rattle that are in the milk crate next to it. I plan on getting rid of the box and building a stealth one but just a reminder, when MDF gets wet it gets ruined.

All it would be is a new noise to add on to the rest.. lol
But i thought that same but what i plan to do in the draws is have the tool mats that are pre shaped to each tool then put another foam liner on top that fits the rest of the draw with maybe another pull up top that way it keeps pressure on the tools so they dont move around. but im just adding a crap load of wait to the back with all this stuff.
. Majority of the box(sub) will be light weight mdf that will be reinforced inside to stop flex. And i was thinking of lining the entire box in some kinda water proof sealant. Then wrapped with cloth to match interior(black)
Isnt there another plastic type mdf??

Idk really, last time i was at the Depot i thought i saw like a recycled plastic mdf. It has like a green gray color to it. But if that would work i would test the durablity and see if its some wat water resistant.

Just bedliner the wood.......won't rot or swell then!
I'd like to do something like this as well. I was thinking a couple 8's angled near the back seats in a small box, then put a huge top(false floor)on top and have dividers supporting the part of the false floor that'll extend towards the tailgate.
With the box of 8's only being around 10-11" high, I could easily stash stuff in the dividers and still have enough room up top to toss my mountain bike in there.....or the dog.
Only way you'd be able to see the subs would be to have the hatch open and look up in the slots where the dividers/supports are. From the top it'd look just like the regular floor. I'd put some kinda grill over the subs, of course.

Rear hatch
I constructed a sub box in the hatch with MDF and Peel and Seal aluminum flashing (same as dynomat, but WAY less expensive) from Lowes. I could see a tool box that doubles as the original panel on the other side. Just an idea.
