It's time for a new set of 33x12.50 tires and these are the ones that I have narrowed my options to for now.

General Grabber red letters

I know that the bfg's are proven so I am leaning on those but the general grabbers and mickey Thompson are on sale at 4 wheel parts right now. Looking to get some opinions thanks.

Deegans are probably the worst tires Mickey has out. Lord 2 of complaints from customers out of my work.

The other 2. ones an all terrain and the other an mt. Do you need a mud tire?

I do mostly street driving but I do play in the desert on weekends. I was told that the red letters are like a hybrid between mud and all terrain and that they are not only heavyer than an all terrain they are also made with a softer compound and they will wear faster however they outperform the bfg ko2 in most terrains. This was what somebody told me who has red letters on a jk.

Eh I would say they are a mid tier mud tire. If you mean desert as in dry Sandy conditions I think all terrains are better suited. An old friend of my dad's used to do Baja races and desert races in trophy trucks and buggies. He always ran all terrains, the older ko's were his go to.

So I would say the red letters are a mid tier mud tire and the bfgs an upper tier all terrain. The red letters are a good tire but for your situation I say bfg. For mostly street driving and weekend adventures they are a great bet.

There was a mud tire shootout done and the Hankook MT's performed darn well. I have these in 33x12.50s and have been very happy with the performance and wear. Plus they are pretty inexpensive too...as far as mud tires go. It is kind of old now (test was down back in 2011), but still a good jumping off place for some research.

Yeah I was thinking the same. Since bfg makes the ko2 is 32x11.50 I may just go with those. I'm running 4.5 lift and 33's fit but too close to fender and I don't want to trim anything.

Falken wildpeak a/tw3. Good road manors, good tread, and fairly inexpensive. I got 34 11.50 17s for 208$ a piece

They don't compare to bfgs. Or cooper at3 or general grabber all terrains. I'm not a fan of falken. Although their mud tires impressed on a trip with a group I wheeled with.

When aired down then new BFG AT's do pretty darn well in the rocks too.

How do they not compare to the bfgs. They have a similar tread. I had the at3s as my last tire and they aren't much different. Only slightly more knobby.

And? The compounds used are differrent. The bfg ko2 are one of the most copied tire patterns. Yet none of the imitators come close. To even say the falken come close to one of the best tires on the market is asinine lol

No doubt. They are a great tire. Only thick mud is where they are over matched. But that happens to mud tires as well.

Very true, they aren't great in mud, but thats to be expected with nearly any all terrain. Very versatile tire though.
