Tie Rod Upgrade
I am amidst the installation of my lift on my 2000 xj. So far things have been going about how I expected them to. I ended up popping the tie rod end off of my steering in order to adress the ball joint issue I had going on. I of course shredded the boot on the tie rod end and further came to realize that my tie rod ends also have significant wear. I was curious if there were any real upgrades to this portion of the front end. I saw someone used a TJ tie rod and TRE. Let me know what you think.

TJ tie rod is same as stock xj I think. You're thinking of a v8 jeep grand Cherokee zj tie rod upgrade. All you need is a zj tie rod, the adjustment sleeve and a tre. If you get it all new then the total is around $70. Search it on google and you'll find write ups and part numbers. Bolt in upgrade. Also, I'm not very familiar with this, but if you have the knuckles off for ball joints, look at a wj knuckle swap.

v8 zj tie rod is a great upgrade for 33" tires. Anything bigger and you will want some heavy duty steering by currie or JCR. Or the best option possible is a WJ knuckle swap. But to do that properly is about $800
But most likely the zj tie rid will be the right choice for you. At least for now. Anything is better than that thin stock tie rod

I went with the zj upgrade. 104$ on amazon. Local stores couldn't touch that price. That's too bad. I like to keep my business local. I saw an article with parts numbers on the forum that someone had done so I went with those. Hopefully it all goes smooth!

70$ is nice! We don't have an auto zone anywhere around here though. lol. I ended up with the Raybestos stuff. Hopefully it holds up. If it doesn't I am sure i will get at least my 104$ out of it.

Yeah, last night I broke a front sway bar end link so I replaced both from autozone and the guy in there said they have a lifetime warranty and are the same quality as moog, I was VERY impressed!
