Thicker Oil Pan

Does anyone know anyplace that sells a thicker oil pan? Ive seen those glue on skids and am not interested in going that route... I think I've seen a thick one somewhere I just can not put my finger on it.

teraflex has a skid for sale for cheap. only covers the sump tho

How about the pans on the 4.2 CJ's? I've got a few in the storage building but never been concerned enough to see if they'd fit a 4.0.

why? you dented yours? AEV's oil pan skid is really nice, i'd do that instead.

I personally have not but the trails around here are mostly rock/branches. I have seen a few people dent theirs. I just don't want to be 30 miles in the middle of no-where and loose my oil haha. I had not seen AEVs before. The ones I have looked at were literly glue on (skid-row/Rancho etc). I just know I saw a cast pan somewhere. Like a diff cover but engine pan.

It's very hard to dent the oil pan in a XJ. Not impossible, but hard.

AEV has discontinued the Nth Degree oil pan skid. too bad because it was the best one on the market IMO.

The closest to it is the Teraflex HD skid but apparently it will NOT work on an XJ due to the exhaust routing.
Tera flex also sells an XJ oil pan skid but it simply bolts to the tranny bellhousing and sticks out forwards to cover the sump.

then, of course, you have various other ideas from places like Rusty's et al.

I am considering the Teraflex HD skid and making it fit.

Its not so much coming down on the rocks... its the rocks/branches coming up to the pan. Haha.

Seems a 4.2 pan can be made to work. They are a heavier grade of steel, spot welded skid plate, and baffled inside. Just putting the info out there. Shame your not closer. I'd give you a pan.

Hmm.. looks like they are a different capacity and dont quite line up. I suppose I could just get one from a JY and sandblast it/weld some on it. Ill give that a try. Thanks for the link

What about a welded-on plate? Is that possible?

At that point you might as well make a whole new pan. They're fairly basic in shape and welding one up wouldn't be too tricky.

Thats not what i'm talking about. I'm talking about having them come up from the ground to the pan. Like throw by your tires (mostly big branches)
