Temp gauge install in block.
I bought the pillar mount and gauges from Summit. Only problem I see is that the temp sending unit will be to short to reach the t-stat neck. Would pulling the plug in the block (divers side) be a good alternate place? I just bought a 3 core rad, water pump, hoses and t-stat and want to hook my gauges up at the same time while some of the coolant is out. Thanks.

the temp sender in the block will work but depends which block drain you pull. and how deep the bulb for the temp sender is. in the block the temp will be hotter in the rear.
