tapered inserts. Really that bad?
I was going to ream (still may) for a 1 ton setup but unfortunately the taper tool i purchase for cheap was not wide enough at the top. I have a set of inserts but Ive read mixed reviews. Im not sure if people are off roading and hard on their vehicles and thats the cause or what. I am keeping UTK steering and I don't do much off roading.
Also wondering about different insert sizes? Apparently 2027 and 2026 TREs are high angle and need a different taper insert?

Why add something extra that's not necessary? You're only adding a failure point, for the sake of convenience.
Also, the "cheap" tooling turned out to be not-so-cheap, huh? Shocker, LOL
Buy quality, cry once.

Well thats on me but I can return it. I was thinking 5/8 for the drill out and the ream would have to be the same diameter at the top. But I found a $30 tapered reamer meant for tie rods that will work. If anyone wants these inserts I have 4!

Used specifically for tie rod ends farm equipment use? From eBay. 5/8 to 3/4 1in long. According to my calculations should be a 7.15 degree. I'll rent it out if anyone it. Or ship your parts and I'll drill and ream.
