Taking off beat up bumper caps

Taking off beat up bumper caps
The bumper caps on my xj are starting to get pretty beat up so I think I'm just gonna take them off and be done with them. As far as I can see they're just on there for looks and they don't serve any actual purpose, right? Only the front caps are bad so I think I'll just be taking those off and leaving the back ones alone, has anybody else done this? how does it look?

To me their purpose is to collect salt, mud, and stuff. Your bumper will look shorter without them. No big deal just a few bolts. Try it out to see if you like how it looks.
