Tactical flashlight mount

This isn't much of a fab idea and its something that only took me a few minutes. I keep seeing maglight holders for Jeeps in different offroad catalogs. I myself don't carry a Maglight, but I do carry Surefires and other tactical style flashlights. The main tac light I carry has a rail mount for mounting to my Ar15 and my shotgun. So I took a section of Magpul MOE rail that I had laying around, and I drilled holes and mounted it to my center console. Now my light is with in easy reach.

That is boss! I like it.
Have a spare picatinny laying around myself, think I'll use it.

What an outstanding idea! I'm gonna have to scrounge the junk pile in my arms room and see if I have any damaged rails to use... Mind if I repost this idea?

Nice...I'm kinda a tactical flashlight whore myself. LOL

I like the look of this, but is it 'quick' access? That's a clamp on mount right?

I would like something with a quick release of some kind. How long does it take to unmount the flashlight?

It's just a thumb wheel release on the pictured mount. It only takes a few seconds to loosen it enough to remove it. I have a VLTOR QD flashlight mount as well that is alot quicker. Here is the link to the QD mount:

great idea. gave me ideas for some Molle mounts. between picatinny and molle you can probably find a way to mount just about anything.

DasWulf79 Aug 6, 2012 03:25 PM

MOLLE is definitely handy. I am eventually getting the Smittybitl GEAR seat covers. They are covered in MOLLE webbing and come with 7 various pouches. They (of course) have more options for Wranglers, like rear seat covers and tailgate covers, but still pretty cool.

I have a few pieces 1.5 inch picatinny rail laying around,

I think I'm gonna mount one on the side of the console and then add a Streamlight Rail mount:

add a Supertac or a Surefire G2 and it will just sit there or can be locked down with the tension wheel.

You guys have inspired me!

Where are you going to mount your AR? ;)

ColdWarrior Aug 8, 2012 03:58 PM

AR? Pfft....don't you mean AK? :guns:

So I stole your idea but I think my Surefire is better :)

scottmphoto Aug 31, 2012 10:50 PM

I don't have photos of it but I got a set of the spring-loaded clamps like you use to hang up brooms or mops in the closet. They came in a pkg of 2 and got them in the hardware section of Wally-World for $1.96+tax. I used one at each end of the flashlight and mounted it above the drivers door (doesn't come with screws). It's easy to get to and very sturdy. Because of the springs, the light just pops in and out. It MAY scratch up the paint on your light though.
