I assume this is a common modification in NC? I've never heard of anyone using T-Bird coils and coil buckets.

Apperently its a fairely common budget lift that i have read on this and a few other forums, so i guess its not just centralized to the tar heal state.

I've heard that T-bird coils are an upgrade. But the buckets? You should just be able to swap coils themselves, but I haven't done this so I don't know any particulars.

I thought the same thing at first but digging a little deeper into my research i found that the inside diameter of the t-bird coil is larger then the XJ one, so the strut plate acts as a solid base for the spring to sit in so it doesn't slide around on the old spring pearch. Actually found out about it on this forum

Actually doesn't look bad, bore the center out until it fits over the bump stop tower. Keeps everything in place.

from what i have read it looks to be about 3 1/2 to 4 in, yea you have to bore the strut plate out to 2 1/4 inches i beleive. I did it with an angle grinder and a dremel. but the rubber thats in it makes it a pain in the butt.

Mine give me 4.5 easy & I used a 3" hole-saw the same size as the "bumpstop shaft column thingy". Yeah the rubber part is a compete dick.

I love mine, I'm doing it again to lift my MJ.

Edit: for pictures

I also used s10 leaf to lift the rear as seen in the earlier picture..used both leafs and not the over load

The day of the lift
Next day testing new flex
Then two years later this past summer

Yeah I like the set up Ive got. It may not be the best, but for 130 bucks (+$ for tires and shocks) all said and done. I wont complain.

Oh and I also dont run sway bars either.

And before someone tries to tell me that I need them here too lol...No, I dont. I am not batman. I don't go hauling *** around counters and ****. Really, you cant go around Tokyo drifting your ****. Chill out, drive decently, watch the road at all times and you will be fine.
