SYE vs Hack 'n Tap
 

I was about to buy the SYE for my NP231 and found that there is a Hack 'n Tap Slip Yoke Eliminator Kit from IRO and wads wondering if the Hack n tap works fine or if its better to get the SYE.
I am not having any vibrations problems whatsoever, however I hear a slight ratcheting noise when i am dead stopped and push the gas pedal to hard, which ive read has to do with not having SYE with a 6.5 inch lift.

Can anyone adv if the Hack n tap is a good option and works as good as the SYE or should I got with the SYE.

Hack and tap works just fine.

Really come's down to what you want to put in the SYE is basic parts swap. the hack and tap is cutting, drilling and tapping! both then involve replacing the driveshaft Keep in mind the hack in tap you will need a drill bit and tap also I would recommend the jig also. and if yours is the housing over the slip yolk then you will also need the slip yolk seal housing at witch point mite as well just get the SYE about the same money!

I did the Hack and Tap on my 2001 . Very simple install and it works flawlessly. I'm running a 4.5 " lift and simply replaced my rear driveshaft with a stock length front driveshaft. Have had zero problems . I do recommend the the bit , tap , and jig from IRO. Follow the video that is online and youll be done in an hour.. Be advised though that whether you use the hack and tap or the SYE , you will likely need to make an adjustment to your pinion angle to avoid vibes. I just got a new set of shims and the angle is dead on.

Sounds like you might be experiencing axle wrap, not a problem an SYE will fix
