Sway bar problems
Hi,
I installed a bumper from Nate's 4x4 today and noticed that the carriage bolts used to anchor the back of the bumper to the frame gets in the way of the sway bar. My sway bar bushings are old and need replacing which I'm planning on next week (it will sometimes "click" when I make a turn). I went off-roading tonight and the sway bar would hit the carriage bolts at every bump. I'm running a 4.5" Rough Country lift with 33s. I'm not sure if there is a wider sway bar available. I've searched, but I don't know much about them.
Here's a photo so you can get a better idea:
Thank you to anyone that can help!

I was considering getting some quick disconnects for the sway bar for off-roading, but it still will be loud on the road with speed bumps, etc. It hits the bolts on both sides. I've considered shaving down the carriage bolts, but I don't know the best way to do that or if it would work.

I wouldn't modify the bolts as you would be weakening them. It is a unique problem and the only solution i can come up with is shorter sway bar links/disconnects so the sway bar is angled down a little bit more.

Okay, I'll have to check into that. I just found this thread: http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=994332
Had anyone had experience using hose clamps like in this thread to prevent your sway bar from shifting around?

Rough country discos are way cheaper than jks and they are pretty nice. They are what I run on my 4.5" lift and I love them. The only issue I have is the bushings on the lower part are a little wide so its kinda hard to get the pins in but its not a big deal. You can adjust them up a bit which would tip your swaybar down and probably keep it from hitting the bolts

Well, I decided to buy sway bar relocation brackets and use my old links, which gives me plenty of clearance now, though the angle of the bar is slightly awkward. I ended up replacing my driver side link as it was stripped when reconnecting. I was going to get quick-disconnects, but decided against it.
Before, with the longer links that came with my lift kit:
After, with the factory size links and relocation brackets:

Who says I don't drive like a sane person? I don't make abrupt turns or lane changes. This is not only my off-road vehicle, but but daily driving vehicle. Removing it would be dangerous.
