Sway bar links rubbing coils
Just installed a 6.5” x series RC lift. Have adjustable upper and lower control arms and rc ca drop brackets installed. Sway bar links rub on coils. Coils are not bowed and are correctly seated. Looks to me like I could just lengthen the discos as the instructions that were supplied say to measure them to 11 1/4” which is the absolute shortest length. Rc support says I should keep link length and adjust ca. Any advice?

You have your control arm lengths incorrect they’re right .

Would you be able to give measurements? I used the measurements from the drop brackets instructions for 6” lift.

I just set the lowers so that the hub to hub wheelbase is 101.5" and then set the uppers so that the diff caster is around 5 degrees.

After a small lift my passenger side sway bar link is rubbing the coil.
My caster is at like 5.6 so I am going to add shims to the lower control arms. Should solve both problems at once, improve steering and lean coil away from link. |
So I took it to an off-road shop to dial in the control arms and align. The shop is telling me they cannot dual in the arms because I didn’t install the t case drop kit. Says the front DS will bind. Any ideas? I’ve never heard anyone having trouble with the front after lifting

Might help
I am not an expert but thought this might be useful ...

A t-case drop is really only needed to address vibrations at the rear if you don't have a SYE installed as the stock driveshaft back there doesn't have a double cardan joint like the front does. The whole point of the arms being adjustable is that you can easily set the caster to compensate.

Not sure about this shop, my friend just had them install an RE long arm kit on his JK and he had nothing but great things to say about them. They are veteran owned and being a veteran myself I decided to take it to them to just button up everything behind me as I am a backyard mechanic with nothing more than hand tools to work with but I will def. not be going back to this place. This is why I do this stuff myself to begin with

Rubicon Express has a swaybar drop kit that also moves the swaybar forward some.
