Sway bar links ?
1 Attachment(s)
I bought my XJ recently and it a previous owner lifted it around 4". I do not know what brand of lift it is but I have concerns about the sway bar links. I've attached two pictures so if you don't mind telling me what you think? I think they used the wrong links but I'm open to anything. Thanks

Those links are too long. They look like they're for a 6" lift which usually would require drop brackets for the entire sway bar to pull them forward (away from the springs).
PS: I only see one picture. |
Is there a way I can measure to find out what size I would need to correct it?

Maybe someone with a 4" lift can measure their links to give you something to compare to. I don't run a sway bar

If it were me I would not replace the links instead switch to SB disconnects 100% better for off road use and not all that much more money.

that adapter bracket should be bolted strait to the sway bar with no bushings in it .to me it looks like they wer tryin to run part of the old endlinks

Thanks for the replies guys. I think for a temporary fix I'll remove the bushings. It rides good and solid but sometimes the drivers side link rubs the fender. I'm assuming removing the bushings would make that more solid hopefully?

Rotated the tires today and figured I'd fix the linkage while I was at it. Previous owner used 5/16" standard bolts. Both were bent and I ended snapping one in half while removing it. Ran and grabbed some grade 8 3/8" bolts for replacements. I think it looks the way it should now. Thanks again guys for the replieshttps://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...f403677789.jpg

Am I the only one who thinks those look like 6" springs?
|
the springs do look long to me too, the swaybar looks better now

I'd suggest you get shorter bolts for the adapter brackets, or you could cut those. You only need 2 threads protruding from the nut for strength. I can see that extra length impacting the wheel well.
