Sway bar clearance issue & TC Bracket ???
I started installing my RE 4.5" lift kit and my Rough Country control arm drop kit today on my 99' Classic. I finished up the front and started the rear last. After the rear was finished, it sat 2" higher than the front. I had some 2" pucks I threw in the front to lever her out. Now I'm having a problem with the sway bar hitting the coil spring(Running RC Qick disconnects). Anyone have any idea whats going on or how to fix it. And after I installed the TC lowing kit my shifter needs to be dropped. Did I just not receive this bracket with the kit or do I need to make one? Thanks!!

Can't help you with the auto-magic shifter nonsense (5 speed owner here) but the sway bar problem is an easy diagnosis; your links are too short. When they're too short, the sway bar is rotated down and into the coils.
It should be AT LEAST this high

Thanks for the pic!! Okay found out that I'm missing 2 small brackets to re-locate the sway-bar, so I removed the sway bar for now. I also found out that I need to make a bracket for my 4wd shifter.

^The "problem" is when a deer comes running out and you take evasive action. If you're running a lifted cherokee on the road you really should run a functional front sway bar setup.

Woah!!!! I gotta throw my .02 in here... Please, for the love of god, don't run fully disco'd if your on roads!!!!!!!! If you have at least the rear sway bar, your ok. A front disco allows you to scrap the rear and then run fully disco'd when at the trail. I just got my front set up disco so i got rid of the rear sway bar and wanted to see just how tippy it was, at about 30-35 I would barely turn when the wheel was between the 9:00 and 3:00 position.... There was so much body roll! In any kind of quick maneuver, wether emergency or not, you would be risking a roll over. I am only speaking from my brief experience running fully disco'd at speed, but I feel very confident in my driving and I also feel very confident that there would be no correcting it if you started to go out of control. ALSO! If you do get into an accident and it is discovered your suspension is illegal, i.e. no sway bars, your in big trouble. Like I said, just my .02, but I'd make sure to do some low speed tests first....

With my steering set up the sway bar brakets had to be cut off to clear. I have no rear either drive 80 down the highway everyday to and from work. Have had to swerve a bit once cuz a dumbass cut me off and slamed on the breaks. Was not bad at all. The breaks on these jeeps are more of a risk then the sway bar. I am not tellin you to run with out but i just dont see how people say its so horrible. 90 percent of the people i know with a xj run without. Its not a real big deal.

^ defend it all you want. Bottom line is that a lifted XJ is more controllable with the front sway bar attached. I don't care what you do. I think you can roll one with our without the sway bar attached.

I got the lift done late last night and I drove the jeep today for the first time. For 6.5" of lift, no sway bar and in need of an alignment it didn't ride bad at all. I only got up to speeds of 50mph but it was on a curvy, bumpy back road. No noises or clunks. I believe it's a good start. I still need to make a bracked for what I believe is called the z-cable, Have some 1/8" and 1/4" stock laying around and order the sway bar brackets I need from Rubicon Express. I'm going to run the front sway bar no matter what. I'm not worried about my driving its the other idiots on the road. I'll post pics tomoorrow in the day light. Thanks guy for your posts. Great forum here!!!!!!
