Swap instrument panel with what year?
Looking at a instrument panel swap. To gain more features. What year for the swap? I have a 1997 XJ. Are attachments already there? Plug-in-play?

Word to the wise...
Before you reinstall everything (dash, nuts, bolts, etc)
Just make sure the little bulbs in the dash all work. I wasn't smart enough to do such a thing cause I was so excited to see the LEDs I put in...had to go back and take everything out
Goodluck with it though!

ah correct me if i'm wrong but if you currently have the base cluster that does not have the fancy gauges you also don't have the switches/ sending units to run the fancy gauges under the hood.
For example since you have the base cluster you have the oil pressure sending unit for the light not the gauge and so on.
so you would have to replace the sending units for oil press, temp, batt power, as they are set up now to trigger a light in your dash and not a gauge.
And I could very well be wrong, pls disregard anything I said if i'm wrong.

Only have to swap the oil pressure sensor and temp sensor in engine bay (temp sensor on top of thermostat housing)(oil pressure sensor is on the bottom passenger side of engine near oil filter)

Only have to swap the two sensors if you are before 97. Evidently 97+ sensors support both gauge and idiot lights.
