Go to jeepstrokers.com for part numbers etc, Im finally building mine after a year got lots of help from there. A couple of questions to ask yourself are:

1. Budget, You can buy prebuilt strokers $1800+ depending on power level. You will however have to send your engine back to them for the core charge. You are looking at about $1300+ for parts and machining if you source everything yourself. But if you go the link above there are lots of recipes for strokers.

2. Is your XJ your daily driver? If not then you already have the block, Head, pistons if you dont overbore the engine. You will have to source the 258 crank and rods from somewhere else. But is easy enough to do I got a disassembled 258 off craigslist for $80 and sold the block and head for $75 or you can get them from your local auto parts store and swap the 4.0 parts for the core.

As for blocks you can use most any 4.0 block from a cherokee, but its a lot of swapping especially the ignition, acessories a 97-99 block would be fine because it would use the same acessory drive but you would have to adapt the coil on plug ignition to it ( no biggie really) but it would get you away from the 0331 head. Hope the Helps PM me if need any help:rockon:

if you decide to use the 0331 head get one with tupy stamped between cyl 3 and 4, this head design does not suffer from the casting flaw that causes the cracking. Or just don't ever overheat your stock head.

what i had planned on doing was getting a motor from the jy and keeping mine in until its time to do the swap
