Stroker Indicators
I am heading out this weekend to look at and possibly buy an XJ that supposedly has a 4.7 stroker installed. Are there any external indicators that would confirm or disprove having this engine? Thanks in advance!

nope , the best way is to actually measure the stroke but that can be hard on a fully assembled engine your best bet is to use a bore scope look down in a spark plug hole maybe you can use the oil dip stick to slip down in the hole and turn it over by hand and try to get a measurement from bottom dead center to top compare that to a stock one

Okay, thanks!

Just curious for myself as well as OP, isn't there an inherent "sound" difference at idle? Or is that just because the folks I've heard with a stroker opted for an aggressive cam as well?

Good point, I was also thinking maybe there would be a bigger throttle body and/or injectors as well . . .

Riiiiight . . .
Hopefully the guy's honest and has some kind of documentation, but would be nice to know for sure . . . |
The test drive? I've never driven a Stroker Jeep before but looking at the power numbers it seems like it'd be a pretty obvious seat of the pants feel over a regular factory tuned 4.0L
