Default Stock bumper corner modifications

So I've got a lifted 99 xj with stock bumpers. It also has bushwacker cut outs. I'd post a picture but the mobile app won't let me. It's starting to look like I won't be able to afford aftermarket bumpers for a bit. At least not the ones I want. So in the mean time I want to make what I have look good. When I did the lift and had the bushwackers installed I was throwing away junk parts off the jeep like it was nothing. Now I regret throwing the plastic off my bumpers in the trash. I'm considering getting a set from a jy and trimming them up, but I'm afraid if I trim them around the bushwackers that it will look like ****. So I was thinking, what about the bumper corners off a 96 or older xj? They're already small and look like they just pop in the ends of the bumper. I may not even have to trim those.

I just might not be researching the right terms, but I can't find anybody who has done this.

Just cut the ends of the stock bumper up at a 45° angle for a little stubby look.

Ok... maybe you missed the idea.
hopefully pics will be more useful. Would look a hell of a lot better thank mixing up old caps from a different model.
If it's still not a valid idea, I'll shut up.

I, for one, totally misunderstood the "cut them at a 45 degree angle" thing. Seeing the pictures is very helpful for me and that option looks a HELL of a lot better than what I was trying to picture in my mind.

I'm going to be facing a similar issue soon (hopefully), after I add more lift and bigger tires. I'm fairly sure I'm going to have to cut my fenders a bit to fit the tires and I was wondering how I was going to make the trim on my 2000 not look like total crap once I did. This might just work.

Thanks!

I knew exactly what you meant, but IMHO, that looks like trash.

Some people like that, I personally don't.

Mixing old caps was just an idea. In the ideal situation, I should've never thrown my old and perfectly good ones away. I have little money to put towards the cosmetics of this thing now. So until I can afford an aftermarket bumper, I just want the bumpers to look like the were manufactured with the bushwackers. I want it to look clean I guess.

The jeep is my daily driver and my only vehicle, it hasn't seen any "real" trails in about a year due to various reasons. With that being said, I just want this thing to look like it was manufactured with its upgrades, not like a trail rig.

For reference, here is a 96 without the cap. Cap has one bolt on top and one on bottom, the center hole on bumper also helps hold the cap.

Don't bump.

Also, my 87 had the best look with a 45* cut on the bumpers. Most sexy looking bumper ever (my avatar is reference).

But the stock bumper gives nothing useful to pull on.

That's useful. Thank you. How do you like your light bar in your bumper like that? I was gonna do the same thing with the set of fog lights I have on top of the bumper now.

I like the light bar located there. It functions well and someone said that it "looks stock". I laughed at that.
