Default Sterring suggestions help!

Have an 2001 xj im having an 6.5" long arm kit put on and 35s and re-gearing to 4:88. Would a single heavy duty rough country stabilizer work or is a dual a have to? Ive never owned a cherokee so this is my first one. Any and all tips and recommendations is greatly appreciated!

A single is plenty. I have 35s and don't use a stabilizer at all. What's your reasoning for asking this question? Death wobble? Sloppy or lose steering?

Ah. In that case, it's pretty much personal preference. I think the dual stabilizers are silly. The stabilizer in general is a comfort thing, try it with one and with out if you want to, you will see the difference and choose what you like best.

Does it have long or short control arms? If you dd it at that height with short arms it could be a hand full. I would at least recommend control arm drop brackets if not a long arm kit. Long arms, or at least drop brackets make a world of difference. The other thing is the rear suspension, check your shackle angle. If it's not correct (~45*) then I would recommend shackle relocation brackets. They are yet another thing that will make the ride worlds smoother and more comfortable. Oh, and most importantly, all of those things increase flex and off road handling/stability haha.

Other then that, go over it good and fix what ever you find wrong with it, and upgrade broken things as you see fit.

a properly set up and maintained steering set up doesn't require a stabilizer, but if you want one, a single is more than adequate for your set up

A steering stabilizer is important for road driving. Very noticeable. Your front end can be tight and new. But it does not take the place of a stabilizers job.

What is the job of a stabilizer then if its so important? I would love to hear your reasoning.

stabilizers reduce bumpsteer. What your shocks do for your suspension, a stabilizer does for your steering. If you drive your xj on the street theyre good to have. If you disagree you need to realize not everyone's xj is their p.o.s. beater wheeler

Mines not a "pos beater wheeler ", and nor is a few of my friends who don't run them either, they dd theirs, i used to dd mine up until the middle of this year. I noticed no adverse effects without my stabilizer, and my one buddy prefers the handling without it. With a properly setup suspension you will have minimal if any bump steer. And they do not in any way shape or form reduce bump steer. They reduce the effects of bump steer.

So I repeat myself.
Dual stabilizers are silly.
A stabilizer is a comfort feature for a properly setup suspension, some use them as a band aid for set up suspensions or failed parts.
Yes they are nice on most dd's.
It's your decision, and your preference, i simply listed options, my experience, and my opinion.

I dont disagree with anything you said. I currently dont run one since i have no way to attach it to my steering but i'd like to again in the future.

shouldnt be a band aid for whack parts but they have their benefits for the road
