steering set ups
Looking for a new steering set up. Have a lot of play and wonder in the front end and trying to tighten it up. Going to get a new durange box and already have a new spacer and frame plate. Trying to find stronger steering and there are a lot out there Im kinda lost. So far I have picked I have narrowed it down to,
Serious offroad
Ironman fab
Iron rock offroad
B lee offroad
The major difference is hiems vs TRE. This is my DD and it sees lots of snow and salt and dirt (live in Syracuse) so the last two that is what I am worried about. Serious is TRE but I have heard those style steering have deadspots and tie rod roll. The ironmanfab is nice but still is Y link. Just looking for what people are running and any advice. thanks

I tightened mine up by replacing everything (TREs, links, balljoints, etc), and the last thing was the steering brace from boostwerks.
No play at all now, and I haven't put in the steering box spacer yet.

I have a crossover setup and now wish I didn't. No doubt its strong, but I'm constantly checking that the bolts are tight and the hiems are lubed. I have more faith in factory or factory like setup for a rig that spends a decent amount of time on the street. If its a trail rig/toy do the crossover, its strong and easy. If its your DD/WW do a ZJ swap, its a good upgrade from the toothpick tie rod that came in the XJ but gives reliable factory performance.

I'd be a bit paranoid about a heim crossover steering on a DD, but my WJ swap has been awesome. Zero DW, and tighter than factory. The ruff stuff kit includes GM 1 ton TREs that are far beefier than stock. The swap is a but involved though and will require welding.

I did a WJ
swap and love it too. But heims are not something I would recommend. They stretch and wear out and start clicking. Eventually you have to replace them

I have the zj tie rod now and it's alright. I would love to do a wj conversion but I just don't have the resources. Maybe some day. As for now just looking for a bolt on beefier set up.
