steering question

I recently got hung up on a tree stump out in my friends swamp and bent my drag link. I need to know where I can find a decent and cheap drag link and tie rod. Its a 1994 jeep Cherokee country. With a 4.5" rough country lift. And 35s. My tie rod is connected to my drag link if that helps. Eventually when I get the money I'm getting new axles. I just need something to get me back out in the meantime. Thanks guys.

You can find stock tie rods all day long at the junk yard for 10 bucks...

You can buy new ones online for about 75.

X3 on zj steering upgrade.

Be careful about pick-n-pull though. The guy called it a drag link and charged me $30 for it
me "I promise you this is a tie rod. Look what do you call this end piece"
idiot "oh yeah the end of it yeah that's the tie rod end sure"
me "finally! Yes the tie rod end goes onto the end of a..."
idiot "drag link yes. $30"
me ":cursing:"

fine I'll give you $30 to stop arguing with me :brickwall:

Ok thanks guys. Now my question is with the lift will I have to get certain length ones? Or will stock ones do for now? I have limited experience with this stuff but thanks guys.

The only thing a lift would need steering wise is a drop pitman arm

Atmos 08-01-2012 05:21 PM

No the steering parts from a V8 zj will drop right in
But it is a good idea to grab a couple other steering upgrades such as a Durango steering box and an aftermarket spacer
And replacing your tie rod ends is highly recommended

Ok thanks a lot. Now I know the direction as to where I need to go!

i put the rustys steering set up on mine and its beefy and durable. it is not terribly expensive and was worth the upgrade.
