alright guys i got a 94 xj lifted on 35s longarms etc. my problem is setting still on ground engine off wheel unlocked i cant turn my tires, i tried to bleed the system that didnt work theres also a distinctive pop coming from the gear itself only when turning left. can this also be linked to wheel not recentering itself after corner and lots of slop aka dead spot like 2 inches both ways before anything turns, also finally when i start it up i have to give it a little rpm not a lot to get steering to move nothings binding exterior only possibly inside box can i adjust box or no thanks.

I would inspect every front end part before assuming it's the box. If it is the box Advanced Auto Parts sells remans for $150 or if you can afford it go with a RedHead box. Two inches of play and popping is the same symptoms my gear box had adjusting the center screw won't really help. Replacing the box isn't too bad it took me around six hours but I take my time and don't have any power tools. The hardest part is removing the pitman arm and holding the 25 lbs box up while you put the bolts in.

Your box is not a manual box and 35s are way over size than stock so turning them is really putting a lot of pressure on a system thats way undersized for 35s. If you slightly roll vehicle it will help or slightly lifting weight off tires will allow movement.

Just did this steering works great. With that said I still wont try and turn my wheels with them on the ground engine off.
