Steering mystery
Ok. I have a 00 xj sport with about 4 inches of lift. 3.5 re super ride kit. I do not have a death wobble issue. I just still have a bit of play in my steering. Ill put it like this. I can wobble the wheel left and right and my tires wont move. It does this at all times. Hot or cold doesn't matter.
So far i have replaced the following
BDS adjustable track bar
Brand new tie rod ends (zj rod)
Brand new drag links
Brand new steering stabilizer
Brand new BDS sway bar end links
Brand new steering box
Brand new rotors and pads
Just had alignment done
Recently i have had quite a bit of belt squealing and chirping. Ive been told my steering pump is going out. Let me know what else i need to check.

Nope. Not saying the tie rod is bad. Just that the inverted y setup isn't the best. I don't even consider it an option if you want tight steering.
But do what N20 said and see if you find anything that might have loosened after the install.

not with inverted Y
i completely disagree. unless your tie rods are shot to the point of falling apart it wont roll in a stock-style setup. i recommend people KEEP inverted Y if they want tight steering, currie's setup is awesome on lifted jeeps. inverted T sucks, and crossover is best, but not a viable option for some.

Yes, I was still half asleep this morning when I responded the first time. For some reason, I thought he was running inverted T and it didnt help that the photo didnt load on my phone. It still SOUNDS like tie rod roll but you are correct, not possible in an inverted Y setup.
And it sounds like you actually agree with me according to what you said... I simply said inverted Y is not the best. You also concluded with saying crossover steering is the best. (not inverted y) I would also agree that crossover is the best.

Ok well my steering is factory. I dont see the need for changing the whole system for 31 in tires lol. Like a said guys i have done the test having someone actually turn the wheel back and forth. Everything under my jeep seems tight.

I just hate sloppy steering it drives me crazy. I was thinking that my steering pump going bad definitely wouldn't help. So i had though about the steering linkage its self. Maybe the u joints in the shaft that runs into the steering box cou be bad. Really im just throwing out possibilities here lol. I don't expect anyone here to fix it over the internet, just let me know if theres something i should check that i didnt mention

Pretty sloppy man. Yea i mean its a jeep. I had one shop tell me that its caused bc my jeep is lifted. Which i don't see how a longer coil spring causes steering play. Ill put it this way: lets say my jeep is parked in my garage, i can wobble the wheel back and forth quite a bit. It does it when the jeep is off and running. ( im trying to be specific and clear as possible )
