Steering Box Brace
Ladies and gents of the forum,
I am wanting to order a steering box brace soon. I'm running a Rubicon Express 2" budget lift (spacer and add-a-leaf) with lots of Energy Suspension bushings. In the future, I'd like to do a Durango steering box upgrade and 1.5" wheel spacers. I have Goodyear Silent Armor 31x10.50R15 tires on the Jeep rims pictured below. If someone knows the backspacing measurement on those, please share.
I've seen two types of steering box braces. The first style are the type that mount to your stabilizer bar/frame bushing mounts, and the second style is a passenger-side frame mount. Which style would be best for my use, seeing as how I'm not doing any rock crawling? I mostly use this Jeep as a DD and hit trails once in a while, but don't push it too hard. I just want to tighten up my steering and prevent any damage that may result from running the larger tires.
Here's the one I'd like to get: http://www.kevinsoffroad.com/cart/ha...rcoated-p-839/
Here's a couple of the frame-mount style braces I'm considering, too:

I'd appreciate input and conversation. I'm not sure which would be better, but the sway-bar style with multiple mounting points looks like a very solid design, and I already have the Energy Suspension sway bar bushings.

I am also running a MORE steering brace, very stout. I would recommend it.
I also have a c-rok spacer and the IRO outer frame brace. Steering got much tighter doing it also.

Those are the 3 on the market that I know of. I'd say just get a spacer first and then maybe a brace later if you really feel you need it.

i would run the stock one. imho, using a steel one against the thin unibody just causes the unibody to crack instead of the aluminum spacer.

My frame is fine, but that JCR spacer, combined with a steering box brace, would be nice. Thanks for the input, gents! Has anyone used the one from kevins offroad.com yet?
