It's been done. I recall seeing a thread either here or on Comancheclub. i cannot remember which, but it took the fellow the better part of a month to re-wire everything.

Does it start with the tranny in neutral?

Years ago I used a ford starter relay in my Chevelle. The ford relay mounted on the inner fender and the stock relay was jumpered across. A little google search should show you how to wire it in.

I have had lots of Fords and ford solenoids. This would be a good suggestion on a different vehicle. But the starter relay only powers a larger relay (starter solenoid) on the starter. However you can use a regular relay to do what the one in the PDC does. But first confirm it doesn't start in neutral before tearing something apart
