Ya might try searching this one. Insanely common part and with some mechanical knowledge can be done in a couple hours.

Depending on what axle you have it may not be an option. Most people just weld them which is basically the same but you need to know what you are doing because it can cause more harm than good. I like them but it can tend to push you through turns that a locker may not offroad.

I welded mine, if and when I finally swap in my 9" it will be with a full spool. My Heap sees less than 10 miles of pavement a year so scrubbing some rubber off is not a problem. In fact my tires are usually dry rotted away long before the tread is worn off.
Street manners suck with a spool for anything more than driving from trail to trail.

If you weld a c clip axle make sure you can still get the center pin out so you can change out shafts if you break one. I also weld my spiders to the carrier because it tends to be stronger and if a spider does break it's not an issue. Seen where people just weld the spiders and they shatter and cause all kinds of problems. I use nickle rods as well.

You might have a Dana 35 which will not hold up well being locked at all - so ignore all the below and leave it alone unless you find that you have a Dana 44 axle or Chrysler 8.25 rear axle - You can consider a front Dana 30 lunchbox locker though and it will not effect you on the street at all in 2wd.
Yes you can weld the rear, and both of my trail rigs have welded rear axles (as I swapped the axles out of jeeps I bought, fixed, and sold to feed my addiction), but with that said I would look at swapping in Lokka Lockers or a similar "Lunch Box" locker (Spartan, Lockrite, Aussie are all the same type thing) They replace the spiders gears (which is what is being welded in the above posts). 1) it will go around corners a little better 2) it will give you nearly the same traction as being welded as under torque it is locked... period 3) you can switch back if you decide to sell the jeep or you don't like it - TOTAL PRICE FOR BOTH FRONT AND BACK AXLE LOCKERS SHIPPED $437 and it is an easy backyard mechanic install and can be done in the driveway with basic tools. http://www.lokka.com
How to tell what rear axle you have. (8.25 usually has rubber drain plug, Dana 35 usually has a steel drain plug, Dana 44 shape is obviously different)

Never mind all the slag, idea is to make it so the gears can't turn.
Also the older Pre-90 D35's have bolt in axles, they hold up better than one would think welded on 35's lots of grenaded joints and shafts on the polished turdy but only a few twisted splines in the back.
