Speedometer help (not gear driven..)
I bought a mildly modded 95 XJ a few months ago and I'm working to clean up some of the previous owners projects. I stuck and haven't been able to find any info on how to get the speedo working correctly. I pulled the unit out of the transfer case today to check if the gears were right but it's not a gear driven unit anymore. I think there is some kind of tone ring or something in there from when he did the SYE, but I'm not sure what brand/type of SYE he installed.
There are 3 wires coming off the transfer case which currently aren't connected to anything, and there are 3 wires on the frame rail, so I'm sure one is a ground and shouldn't be hard to figure out, but what about the other two?
Is there any documentation on this kind of a setup? Everything I find seems to be gear driven info.. this is a 95 body, with a 99 motor and 231 TC.

It sounds like a Rugged Ridge Mega Short SYE. http://www.quadratec.com/products/52237_90_07.htm
This kit replaces the speed sensor that generates a pulse with a digital hall sensor that generates a frequency wave. You need a converter to get it to work.

Is there any way to verify that the new sensor is actually putting out a pulse? I'm still a little confused because of the 3 wire setup. I'd like to know things are working properly before dropping $80+ on the dakotadigital box..
