Default Speedometer gears

I just swapped my transfer case from the old vacuum style to a new one out of a 99. My old spedospeedo gear is smaller than the new one and so my cable doesn't pick up the reading off the tcase. Anybody know how to swap gears or where to get one that will work

Case out of the 99 probably uses a VSS.

you have to find out the tooth count and then rotate the the gear assembly to the appropriate slot.

Fast forward to the 5:50 min mark.

Ok so from what I picked up from the video. it doesn't matter that the gear is physically smaller, I just need to find the point where it clicks into place?

'92 and earlier use a long shaft gear (the part that sits inside the sensor) while '93 and up use a short shaft (about half as long as the one in the video), which is the one you'd need for a '99.

So I get the Long vs short shaft part. But the old gear is about half an inch than the new one. so im worried that even if I find the right point in the cable it will still be too small and just kind of float above the gear, and not actually engage it
