Default Speedometer gear

So I知 gettin ready to do a SYE and gathering all that is needed. I thought the only thing that affected the speedometer is the tires but when I googled this chart came up;

I知 thinkin since I知 goina change the gearing ( not sure how long from now) I should go with the gears that I will have one of these days.

They are inexpensive. Buy the correct one today. Buy the correct one when you regear.

I agree. But also get yourself a free speedometer app for your phone and check your speed with that and do a little math. I have found these charts good for ballpark values, but checking your own stuff is how to get it right on in the end, especially if your speedo is computerized

Thanks, that makes sense. I guess I was thinking the gear that goes around the shaft but this is the gear that just sticks down into the housing which is very easy to change.

When you take it out, you will notice that the gear carrier is off set so you can use different diameter gears without changing anything major just by rotating the carrier until the gear makes contact with the worm gear on the tail shaft

I got mine used on ebay for around $12 shipped. They are cheap enough to just buy a new one if you go up in tire/gear size
