I swapped in an 8.8 and its open , I hate it ( thats the only thing I hate ). I will get a trac loc and restack it and add the truck spring . My rig sees way more pavement so a lsd is ok in my case .

Why not just put a spartan in it instead of going through all that work $300 and done I love mine.

Hmm, sounds like a bit of a leap to me man, that's an expensive swap for what it is. you are still "open" and you still have c-clips. in my area, an 8.8 swap including fab time for brackets and **** is around $1000 (axle included). I would find a direct swap 8.25 from a newer Cherokee (I think 94 and up, please confirm) for a couple hundred and get a Spartan, good to go. I would go as far as locking the D35 before spending all that money on an 8.8 unless you really knew what you are either getting into or plan to build the truck. depending on the type of wheeling and skill, not everything needs to be bomb proof, its just nice piece of mind for some. I know lots of guys that wheel D35's on 33's. as far as the front, again, don't waste your money on a e-locker just yet. the front wont engage unless you are in 4x4 and you can always sell them for a decent price when you are ready to move up. again, I wheel my D30 with 33's, putting a front locker in and not worried about it breaking, I know my limits. if you want a cheap D30 axle upgrade, find some shafts out of a jeep with ABS, bigger u-joints.

Down here a complete explorer 8.8 can be had for under $200 complete with disc brakes, trac loc and 99% 3.73 gears. Sometimes 4:10's. And i do fabricaton for a living. So by the time i rebuild the trak loc and get it installed ill be well under $400. Way better than a d35. Jeep will be mostly driven on road with occasional offroading.
