spartan locker popping from hi-steer?
Hi guys I installed a spartan locker in front of my d30 worked great when I first got it in only been a month and it is popping/unloading violently when turning the wheel. Checked everything the tolerance is within spec no shaved metal changed u-joints and ball joints. Only thing that changed is I put hi steer in. I'm thinking the Y setup allowed a little bit of play between wheels to let it unload easier and ratchet.
So my question is has any one has this problem with there auto locker and Hi steer?

I have never had it unload violently, but doing anything at full lock, fast or slow can produce some weird popping and skipping which makes it seem like its in the steering... I have also replaced the steering box, ball joints and drag link tie rod ends just to be sure and still getting the same popping etc...
I also have two aussie lockers between my jeeps and for some reason are a little bit better mannered.... but i think the spartans are easier to install...

Sorry I forgot to mention this is in 2wd on tar and dirt so it shouldn't lock. It was slightly clicking normally in 2wd turns the first few weeks. It pops worse when your stopped.

Like I said we checked it out yesterday the tolerance was .147 everything checked out with front end off the ground but put it on the ground with cover off and it popped so loud it looked like the carrier wanted to jump out. Did not do that until I installed Hi steer. No one else has had Hi steer with one?

My Spartan did that for about a month then only one side would lock up and the other side just clicked. I pulled it and reinstalled it swapping parts around and still the same thing. Their warranty flat out sucks and I was told sorry but since I bought it and didn't install it right away and only take my jeep out every month or so it had been a year so I was out of luck. Mine is now welded, I have locking hubs, because only one wheel locking didn't do me much good. I will NEVER buy another Spartan. I ran Aussies for years and never had any issues. Even my lockright which sometimes unloaded even when on the throttle still worked 90% of the time.

Hi-steer has nothing to do with it. Coincidence that something happened at the same time. If it's truly from the steering linkage being stronger mine should be popping all the time, it doesn't. Mine is noisier when in 2wd then 4 though.
I would check your axle u joints, possibly you have a loose joint and its unloading as the joint turns?
