Default spare tire size with a lunchbox locker

Im running 32 inch tires on my XJ. I have an Aussie locker in the rear. Would having a 31 inch tire as a spare be a bad choice taking the locker into account.

On road: yes
Off road: yes, but would probably be ok for emergencies.

yes, the bigger tire would be trying to spin slower than the smaller tire and the locker wouldn't let it, big bind, possibly blown u joint, snapped axle shaft, etc...

Not the best idea but doable if needed to in a pinch. The diffirence in height on those two tires when mounted is about 1/2". That small height difference can be made up by changing tire pessures between the two sizes. Its not the best but will get you off the trail or home from a short trip.

It is a pita but works great. I run 35s and my spare is stock 28 inch tire, I run a Detroit in the rear so if I need to change out a rear tire I have to remove a front tire and replace it with my spare and then use my front to replace the bad rear tire.

Just go to the nearest used tire place and find one that fits. I got a 35" spare with a rim for $50.

That would work, unless you just didn't want to mount your spare on the roof or build a tire carrier for the rear bumper.
