Spacers
 

I'm searching for a trailer because my 93 is going to be used exclusively off-road. As it sits the width is almost 80" tire to tire. I noticed there are spacers between the wheel and hub, either 1.25" or 1.5", was tough to get in there and measure. Fenders are cut & tires are 35x12.5. See pip for reference. I don't have a way to cycle the suspension, I know that may be the only way to find this out, but do you guys think the tires will rub on anything?
This wold bring the width narrow enough that a regular trailer would work and the cost would be cheaper than say and 84" width.

The bolt circle on a standard XJ hub is 4 3/4". Most, not all the time, wheel spacers are used to convert the standard bolt circle to a larger bolt circle to facilitate the use of later model wheels. Sometimes, spacers are used to compensate for the incorrect back spacing of wheels to allow the wheels to still be used with larger tires. You will just have to figure out what you are dealing with. No one can just look at a picture and tell.

You will need to pull off a wheel and spacer and see why the spacers were used in the first place.

I would pull them off and see, you can cycle the suspension with a floor jack. The bolt pattern on an XJ is 5 on 4.5".

Guess I will be pulling them off shortly. I'd like to get rid of them if tires don't rub on anything.

Thanks for the@texastaz38 about people using them for adapters. I didn't think about that.

yes, i missed the bolt pattern. too much superbowl pregame tailgating I suppose. lol Point is still the same.

I'll let it slide since you're in Pampa... Not much else to do there other than pre-game it! :thumbup:
I've got a friend up there that works for the Pampa PD, he never invites us up, he always come back home instead.

Now to see if I can find something tall enough to articulate the suspension - not sure just how far it will go.

Before you do the articulation, if the wheels fit without the spacers, just see if you can turn the wheels lock to lock without hitting the lower control arms. That might answer your question.

I spent a lot of time down on the corner of Lancaster and Bessie, Fort Worth in my day. I love the climate of the metroplex but Podunk Pampa is home. lol

Pulled the front spacers off and not even close to rubbing and the bolt pattern wasn't an issue. The tire hits the brake line but they have a funny curl to them and I'm sure I can get them out of the way.
Now to trim the replacement front fender and get it up in the air to see if the tire hits anything up top.

National Headquarters for the Boozefighters Motorcycle Club. And you are right, bad area to be in but....property was cheap and nobody wants to mess with 100 or so bikers, that was a slow weekend. National events were over 300 members hanging out there. lol. Lot's of good times from what I can remember. lmao Still some great brothers there and a few assholes. Can't fix that.
