Default some drilling required

I got a long arm upgrade kit and I have to drill into my frame to put a crush sleeve in. This requires a 25/32nds drill bit that I can't find in any stores around me just online. I have a drill bit that's a little bigger then that (not much bigger) dose the hole I have to drill be that exsact size or would it be ok with the bit I have? I'm thinking as long as the crush sleeve is in there it would be of as long as the hole isn't much bigger then the sleeve

I would think a hair smaller would be better than anything else. Last thing you want is that not fitting tight and slipping

Drill it with a smaller bit then open it up with a step bit.

Do you have a Grainger in your area? If so, I guarantee they will have that size drill bit. Probably in several lengths.

You may also try Fastenal if you have one close by.

Check electrical supply houses they tend to have a good selection of bits.

Yeah I am a electrican and go to cooper electric a lot but they suck hardly have **** for the jobs I'm on haha they didn't have the bits but when I get home from drill this weekend (I'm in the army) ill check out granger and fastenel. And I wanted to see if I could find a place I can go to and get the bits before I have to go online and buy them. I went to put the cross member on yesterday cause that's about all I can put on before rc sends me the jam nut they forgot to put in the box but the retart that I bought the truck from put a transfercase drop on the truck I guess he snapped the bolts off dxoing it and drilled and tapped them out but to a bigger size so now I have to drill out the new cross member to alow the bigger bolts to fit in. Haha iv been running into nothing but problems with this truck just trying to fix all the dumb crap the old owner did to it. But hell I'm doing everything right now. Got a complete lift kit on it waiting on my slip yoke elimanator kit (kid had 5 inch lift with a cut and rewelded drive shaft that was not very blanaced well. I rewired almost the entire truck. Fixed all the leaks( everything but the rear axle was leaking) yeah I'm *****ing now but hell when this is all done I'm gonna have a nice truck (as long as my luck gets better) butits coming together slowing just taking my time and doing everything right. This is my first xj build so I wanna do it right.

Definitely use the size they recommend, I'm not a fan of loose sloppy holes!

There really isn't a reason to not use a step bit.

I used a step bit to drill that hole when installing my Rough Country long arm kit. Was able to get the hole the perfect size so the sleeve fit in there nice and tight. If you are doing the same long arm install I would reccomend sleeving the other bolt as well instead of using the included nut with the long metal arm welded to it. I used a pipe nipple as a sleeve for that one.

You could drill with a smaller bit and then just use a reamer until it fits nice and snug.

Btw as soon as I saw this thread I new it was a RC kit install lol
