Performance Off Road center (PORC) sells the Advance Adapters SYE kit for NP231J for $165.00. Nobody can beat their price that I have found and the AA SYE eliminator is the best one made for the XJ transfercases IMHO. For that price you get an HD (much larger than stock) output shaft, you get a new rear housing with bearing and seal already in it, you get a new speed O gear and of course the new rear flange.
The only drawback to this kit is that you are on your own to find a new rear drive shaft but a little secret I found out is that around 4-5.5" lift a stock front auto tranny XJ DS will work in the rear. 6-7.5" lift a stock front DS from a V-8 auto tranny ZJ works great. That is what I have in the rear of my XJ. My Jeep goes down the road smooth like running on glass rails, now.

I don't have one but have been reading a lot. Go with a full sye kit not hack and tap they're almost the same price since your tc is pre 96. Alot of people go with AA

look at JB conversions. they are supposed to have the strongest kit. and it used to be $169 a week ago. so i'm sure you can email them and hopefully get it at that price. It comes with a higher clearance yolk and apparently has a stronger tail cone. They seam to be the leader in innovation with theirs tcase components.
