Default skid plates

What year are the factory skid plates found on? And can zj skid plates fit XJs? Can YJ gas tank skid plate fit XJ? I love my junkyards and they have lots of Jeeps. Can't buy brand new aftermarket skids cause I'm on a high school minimum wage budget lol.

Time to get down & dirty since all year ranges had the skid plate option(s). It just depends on if the original buyer opted for it.The ZJ gas tank & T-case skids will work on a XJ. You will need to re-drill the mounting holes to match the trailer hitch (You do have a trailer hitch, right?) in order for the gas tank skid to work. I found that a '87+ gas skid will not work on a '97+ XJ but a '97+ will work on the earlier years. Other have posted otherwise, just stating what I have experienced.

No clue about the YJ parts.

Best thing to do is pull the part(s) & test fit them on whatever you want to bolt the part to, IF the JY has a comparable vehicle. Beats buying a part you can't use due to it not fitting right.

Good luck hunting.

Thanks, I'll probably check next time I go. Anything else I should check for? Such as air intakes off of other vehicles, or anything else?

There's a sticky thread somewhere about what junkyard parts will work with XJs.

I'm after a ZJ gas tank skid for my XJ tomorrow after work, actually. Maybe I'll get lucky.
