Side mirrors for after you take your doors off.

So last weekend my buddy and i hacked his doors off of his 2001 Cherokee. after cutting his doors off i had to come up with an idea of putting at lease one side mirror on. (to be legal in Iowa) after spending a week with doing research everything i found required fabrication of a part. so i started gathering scrap to fab something up as i was doing this i found a box of used motorcycle mirrors in the back of my dad's garage. if these worked i wouldn't have to fabricate anything. i prefer this method. it's so much easier. so here's how everything went down.

this will only work for 97+ Cherokee's

you will need to find a stock mirror from a motorcycle where the mirrors bolt to the handle bars. these came off a 81 Yamaha maxim. and a nut that fit the threads on the mirror arm.

after getting the doors off there will be (what i call a sleeve) in the hole the pins go threw.

you need to remove these to get the threaded part of the mirror arm in the hole. but your going to want to save them if you fallowed the 97+ removable door write up (https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f51/97...stment-146651/) and use 5/16 bolts. the bolts fit better in the sleeve. witch allows the doors to line up closer to the stock position.

after that the mirror arm should just drop in the hole tighten up the nut under it adjust the mirror and u can be rocking down the road legally in no time. when the doors are on the jeep we throw the mirrors under the front seats.

thanks for viewing i hope this helps. also hope this is in the right place didn't feel right putting it in fabrication because there was no fabrication involved. and i didn't see this idea anywhere when doing research.

Looks pretty cool. Any issues with getting the doors on and off? And is that a wild D30 breather tube I see peeking it's head out?? :D

i would suggest trying to find these things supper cheap. every jap motorcycle that i can think of from the 80's and or 90's have mirrors similar to these and people will just trow them away. or hit up a motorcycle junk yard. there's thousands of these things in the world.

the toughest part about pulling off and putting the doors back on is plugging the wires back in. if u snap the tabs off the plugs it makes it just so much easier. I've got so good at pulling off and putting back on i don't need an extra pair of hands. and the breather tube no it's not if your looking at the same thing i am its wires wrapped in tape going into the fender and under the hood. for the lights on the a-pillar. hooked up to the stock fog lights switch.

I just mounted a pair of wrangler mirrors to the corner of the fender and then its usable regardless of doors being on or off. then you dont need the extra mirror bouncing around in the back of the jeep.
